All in all, Helldivers 2 is a fantastic co-op game with lots of content (and arguably the best structure to live service I’ve seen in a long time) wrapped up in a nice $40 package. The price point is right (even if you take into consideration the additional $20 “upgrade”), the content is plentiful and it feels like a game that respects your time. I genuinely have a hard time saying anything negative about the game, especially now that the servers are stabilized and the developers are active on Twitter (X, if you care about that detail) updating the community about game updates and stability hiccups.

The work of a Helldiver never ends as more planets fall into the enemy’s clutches and the battle rages on. Play your part in an evolving war to reclaim planets for Super Earth and spread democracy and liberty to the furthest reaches of the galaxy.

IGN gave the original game a 9/10, saying it "isn’t the prettiest game you can play on PS4, PS3 or Vita, but Helldivers is one of the most exhilarating" and that it was "brutal, focused, and mechanically rich."

Its transition from a isometric co-op shooter to a third person co-op shooter makes a gigantic difference in gameplay even if the goal of spreading freedom and democracy is the same.

Blow the doors off! Things can be destroyed in Helldivers 2, and some of the optional objectives will encourage you to blow places to bits. Sometimes when you find points of interest, you'll see crates or doors nearby. Throw a grenade and open them up to find even more loot.

Work your way up to the more difficult missions. If you try them right at the beginning, you'll probably fail. Be sure to unlock more weapons and stratagems before you make the leap to challenging difficulty levels.

The new gameplay footage showed a bit of the co-op in action, giving a preview of how some of the various mechanics work as players take on a massive bug-like monster called the Bile Titan.

Most live service games have a paid Battle Pass for players to progress through by leveling up or Helldivers 2 Gameplay spending a currency, with each tier of the pass giving you a reward when reached. Helldivers 2 has a paid Battle Pass, too, though it works differently than most.

For example, resupply drops apply to the whole team, so if someone uses it, your Supply Stratagem will also enter cooldown. The other thing you'll share is redeployment. If you've got a full squad, you'll have 20 chances to come back, but these are split between the four of you. You can see these in the top-left corner of your screen at all times.

This means that if you were to buy the game on both PC and PS5, your levels and unlocks won't transfer between them — even if

” This hints that Helldivers 2 may take a different direction from the original game, which was an isometric, cooperative, twin-stick shooter. Neither Sony nor Arrowhead Game Studios has made a comment, but hopefully, we find out soon whether the rumors are true.

fantastic takedown of Imperial capitalism, is just as sharp today as it was when it hit theaters in 1997. The movie follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico as he enlists in the United Citizen Federation’s military to go colonize the galaxy.

Helldivers 2 has not been officially announced although the above Tweet seemed to imply it would be making an appearance soon, especially as the few seconds of gameplay footage leaked by Twitter user Adam has since been removed “in response to a report from the copyright owner.” Helldivers 2 was also one of many games that was leaked during the GeForce Now internal database leak approximately a year ago, further lending credence to the rumors.

The quality level is high, presenting without obvious aliasing, even on the PS5 in its performance mode. The clouds are also volumetric in nature, at least at lower levels of the atmosphere, and resolve without distracting artifacting. Low-lying fog also appears to be part of the equation, with ground-level fog often giving planets a certain ethereal quality. Environmental density is impressive. There's a lot of scattered rocks, shrubs, and tufts of grass throughout the various planets. Given the size and scope of the game I have to imagine that procedural systems have been used extensively here, but the final results look quite natural. Foliage in particular can be generously placed, with some especially verdant garden worlds. I did note animation issues with the foliage on at least one planet but on a more macro level, lighting and assets come together to make each world feel distinct, giving each environment some nice vistas.
